Jack Malone, James Marooney, Aaron Randazzo: USHL Players of the WeekJanuary 14, 2019
Jack Malone – 2 Games Played – 3 Goals, 3 Assists
Jack Malone has been named the USHL’s forward of the week. Malone kicked off his week on a strong note when he recorded four points, including a hat-trick, to help the Youngstown Phantoms beat Sioux City on Friday. He’d add to that total with another two assists on Saturday.
His impressive weekend brought Malone to 12 goals and 26 points in only 24 games this season. It also extended his point streak to six games dating back over one month to Dec. 1. In that stretch, he’s recorded five goals and six points.
James Marooney– 3 Games Played – 1 Goal, 3 Assists
James Marooney has been named the USHL’s defender of the week. While most people were getting ready for New Years Eve parties and events on Dec. 31, Marooney went to work and took care of business in a victory against the Madison Capitols, recording two assists that day. He’d follow up that performance with a goal Friday and then capped off his week with a third assist Saturday.
Marooney now has one goal and 12 points in 31 games with Waterloo this season and has recorded points in five of his last six contests. In that time, he’s scored a goal and added six assists.
Aaron Randazzo – 1 Game Played – 1 Win, 0.92 GAA, .962 SV%
Aaron Randazzo has been named the USHL’s goaltender of the week. One game is all it took for Randazzo to stand out this week as he would allow only one goal on 26 shots through regulation and overtime while also stopping all three of the Omaha Lancers’ shooters during the shootout to earn the victory for Dubuque.
That victory brings Randazzo’s record to 5-2-0-0 on the season and is his second victory in as many starts. The St. Cloud State commit has been as consistent as it gets in the USHL this season.
