Player interviews are key to understanding an athlete’s success beyond the numbers. Taking the time to ask the questions is just as important for the writer as it is for the player.

Access Hockey MI, breaks down the real-life conversations with players from around the leagues. In hopes of learning the ins and outs of the game and the stats, we strive to find the honest answers from the individual players.

Breaking down the game one conversation at a time brings more life to the game. The game of hockey would be nothing without the young men that make it what it is and we endeavor to know them. Each player is vital to their team’s success and here, we get closer to knowing how.

VIDEO: Matt Staudacher Muskegon Lumberjacks Alternate Captain

The Muskegon Lumberjacks hold a 12-2-0 record in the Eastern Conference of the USHL and 24 pts. The Lumberjack’s success is due largely to the incredible coaching of Mike Hamilton and assistant coach Josh Nelson. Let’s not forget, however, the players that put the work in every game to get the win. Among those players is Alternate Captain, Matt Staudacher.

VIDEO: Matt Register Toledo Walleye Defenseman Talks ECHL

Matt Register was acquired from the Colorado Eagles, now a member of the AHL, by Toledo in the off-season. As a defenseman, Register is an uncommon player. Averaging more than 60 points per season in the last two seasons, Register is already making a huge impact on the Walleye. Recently selected as a member of the core leadership in Toledo, Register is bound to do big things with the ECHL team.
