The Grand Rapids Griffins have been climbing their way to the top of the Central Division. It’s a tight division and has seen a ton of fluctuation but throughout, there have been several key Griffins making strides and becoming impact players for the team.
The 2019 NHL Entry Draft is coming up so we decided to discuss some draft hopefuls and some notable mentions! Egor Afanasyev, who is draft eligible this year, Mikael Hakkarainen who was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks last year, and Alex Yakovenko who isn’t eligible but is one of the top defensemen in the USHL.
Canadian born, James McIsaac, has had a storied career for only 19 years old. After an incredibly successful career in the WJHL, McIsaac was offered a deal to remain semi-pro in the Canadian league. Turning it down to have a better opportunity at an education, McIsaac joined the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.
